I have been praying for Blake all of his life. As he became a teenager, I started praying for him to find the wife that Jesus would want him to have. I wanted a Christian Wife above all. I prayed for someone Blake could laugh with, grow with. I wanted a person who loves Blake as much as Blake's dad, and I love him. Someone who wouldn't get offended by how much we pick on each other for laughs. It is one of many ways we show our love.
God outdid himself when he brought Brittany into Blake's life. Brittany is a Christian!!! Brittany is everything I have ever prayed for and more. Brittany fit into our family like a glove. Brittany is so caring and would do anything for anyone. They found a church that they like to go to.
Nick and Kat introduced Blake to Brittany. Nick and Kat met Brittany at the dog park. Their friend group has a great time going out together. This was a great way for them to get to know each other. Brittany was in the process of taking engagement pictures for Nick and Kat. Blake would pat the seat next to him and ask her to sit down. She didn't realise he was flirting with her. I thought that it was cute. They finally got it sorted and started dating. We didn't get to meet Brittany for a few months. Brittany is like our daughter now. It has been fun having another girl in the family. We finally get to spoil a girl. Michael told Brittany, Please do not ask me for anything. I can't tell you no. hahaha
Since Blake and Brittany had been dating for a while, Brittany thought they should get professional photos taken since they were going to be in Maui. Brittany got the photographer set up. Brittany mentioned she would love to get engaged in Maui. Blake told her that he was not going to ask her to marry him while they were in Maui.
Blake is like me and can't lie without laughing or smiling. Blake honestly thought he would wait 2 to 5 years to propose. He wanted to save enough to put a huge down payment on a house. Then Blake had a conversation with Garrison Walls and apparently talked some since into him. Blake asked Kurt, Brittany's dad, for her hand in marriage. The next thing Michael and I knew, Blake ordered an engagement ring. Spoke to the photographer when they got to Maui via email and got the surprise proposal setup. Blake was scared to death that she would find the ring before he had a chance to propose. Thankfully, Brittany never figured it out.
These two are officially engaged. Blake asked Brittany on July 13, 2025. They will be married, April 11, 2026.
Brittany and Blake got back to Texas, and the first thing they did was go find the perfect venue. I got them a Bridal book so that they have been busting their tails since. On Saturday, October 4, 2025 Brittany said yes to the dress! She looks stunning in her gown. Brittany's mom, Lucy, her sister in-law Jen, her best friend Kim, and I got to go with her to pick out her wedding gown. We had so much fun. Kim didn't get to go eat with us after we shopped, and the rest of us were hungry! So we went to a very good Mexican restaurant.
We are going to Copperas Cove, my Aunt Dianne is allowing us to use her home so that we can host an engagement party on Saturday, October 18, 2025, for Brittany and Blake. This will give the people who can attend on my mom's side of the family an opportunity to meet this precious young lady.
On Sunday, October 19, 2025, we will go to my Uncle Leon's and Aunt Donna's home so they are able to meet Brittany. I had planned on hosting that event as well; however, Uncle Leon said we have a lot going on and that he would be honored if we let them buy lunch. Such a sweetheart!
Michael's cousins, Trisha, Clint, and Ty, put on a lunch so they could meet Brittany. Unfortunately, Brittany's dad ended up in the ICU, so Brittany was not able to attend. Michae, Blake, and I went and visited them. It has been way too long since we have visited each other. We need to make it happen more often.
We are blessed to have a family that is so loving. Life goes by in a snap. We need to be more intentional about visiting everyone.
As things progress, I will do my best to keep this updated. If no one else reads this, as least I will have it as a keepsake. We can show the grandkids, if we are lucky enough to be blessed with any. If not that is alright as well. God knows the plans he has for us.
I hope you all have a wonderful week. May God bless each of you.
Kind Regards,
Jackie
